Sing All Day

We are now more than half-way through our Sing Up funded project - Sing All Day. We are working in four first schools in Northumberland, and the focus of the project is encouraging newly qualified and other young teachers to use singing in the classroom as part of their everyday activity.

There are six young teachers on the project - most of whom are in the first or second year of teaching.  All the teachers are working with children in Foundation Stages or Key Stage 1 classes.

Songs are being woven into many aspects of the curriculum, helping children with their learning, and making it more fun. Where suitable repertoire can't be found, songs are being written to support specific learning activities - a topic, or a literacy theme such as alliteration.

The project includes work in the classroom as well as dedicated training sessions for staff and vocal leaders. Everyone seems to be having a lovely time, and learning well together.
